WHO Database! Over 1/4
million records!
SEARCH HINTS!
Leave the SURNAME
box empty to get variants. If you enter say HODGSON, you will miss out
on possible misspelled surnames, etc. We have over 200 variants; many
had brief occurrences.
Forenames too come
in many formats. For instance, El & Eliz for Elizabeth or Elisabeth,
and Wm & Willm for William. Enter the start of a forename plus an
asterisk nb El*, W*, An*, Geo*, etc.
The COUNTY search
box includes counties, provinces or states. It and the COUNTRY search
box accept only abbreviated forms nb DUR and ENG for Co.Durham and England.
Standard abbreviations are listed here.
Our database has
Yorkshire as YKS, YNR, YWR, and YER (North, West and East Ridings).
Enter y* (y asterisk) to bring up all Yorkshire ridings. People give
us four ridings when we know there are only three.
In the YEAR box,
enter 183* to bring up all 1830s records. Enter 18* for all 1800s. Enter
nothing and all possible results will appear in chronological order,
then zero in on your choice of calendar years. Full dates are in yyyymmdd
format.
Please e-mail WHO
