FT3203B Richard HODGSON (1810-1871), the founder of a mineral water business in Ulverston c1840, raised a family whose surviving male members all entered the business in different parts of the Furness area. Richard came of farming stock but abandoned that as his source of income. Four generations of the family benefitted from opportunities in aerated water manufacture. Practically all the males in line of descent entered the industry and the females married men involved in it. In the 20th century, family members left the business for other occupations, leaving it to others to distribute the product with the Hodgson brand name to the population of South Lakeland, thus ending the 80-year family dynasty.

London LND
Following the London Government Act 1963, Greater London was formed from London, Middlesex, and parts of Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey.
LND 1700s:
CA5342: John HODGSON, Chief Factor Hudson's Bay Company b.1763 Westminster LND ENG.
m. unnamed Cree "Native of the Country" 1783-85 Fort Albany, North West Territories (Canada). There is mucn confusion in tracing this family tree; even in the Hudson Bay Company Archives. There is mounting evidence, however, that Caroline GOODWIN was not his wife but his son's, James HODGSON. (Correlator's Note: My problem is assigning place names to correct country names. For example, Canada came to be in 1867 so prior to 1867 what are the "country" names? Thus you will find in this FT my best shot i.e. BNA for British North America, UC for Upper Canada (now Ontario), and LC for Lower Canada (now Quebec) until informed otherwise.)
CA9335: Thomas HODGSON m.1718 Westminster LND ENG
m. Rachell TOOKE.
FT9667 Shoreditch/Westminster

LND 1800s:
